Cattedrale di San Zeno. Cosa vedere e come visitare

San Zeno Cathedral in Pistoia is an extraordinary Romanesque building dating back to the first millennium. Located in the city center, it overlooks Piazza Duomo. The cathedral features an elegant Romanesque facade with a 14th-century portico adorned with a terracotta lunette depicting the Madonna and Child by Andrea Della Robbia. Inside, you'll find three aisles, a raised presbytery, and a crypt. Don't miss the magnificent baroque apse designed by the Pistoia architect Jacopo Lafri and decorated with frescoes by Domenico Cresti and Pietro Sorri.

Among the cathedral's art treasures are the large wooden Crucifix from 1274 by Coppo di Marcovaldo and his son Salerno, as well as the silver altar of San Jacopo, created between the 13th and 15th centuries by the finest goldsmiths of the time.
