Unfortunately, restoration work was underway during our visit, but it didn't diminish the beauty and, above all, the great religious and historical significance. And the best part? No entrance fee!
PS: I found it incredibly convenient and useful to be able to make a donation using my debit card at the end of the basilica, where you can choose to support the basilica or Caritas!
