Don't forget to visit this magnificent monument!

Are you visiting Poppi? Don't miss the Monumento ai Caduti di Poppi, a splendid monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers of World War I. It's a must-see attraction when exploring the town and its castle. The circular temple, accompanied by two bronze braziers, stands as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made during the war.

As you drive along the road leading to Poppi, you'll catch sight of this impressive monument. Its architectural beauty, with a grand staircase and natural surroundings, is truly captivating. The exterior features a chapel and four monoliths listing the names of the local soldiers who lost their lives in the war. Among them, the most illustrious was Lieutenant Giovanni Ricci, who received a Silver Medal of Valor posthumously.

Constructed between 1927 and 1938, the monument was inaugurated with a spectacular ceremony. The project was initiated by Comm. Gatteschi, a prominent figure in the community, and designed by architect Ugo Tarchi. The construction involved the participation of local citizens and was financially supported by various organizations.

Visiting this monument is a moving experience, as it pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers. Take a moment to reflect on history and honor their memory.

Delicious and welcoming tavern with healthy and delicate dishes

At the beginning of August, we found ourselves in this splendid place, where you go back in time! This delightful and welcoming TAVERN offers healthy and delicate dishes. Not to mention the staff: more than kind, they even let me charge my phone. The prices are reasonable, and the satisfaction was total.

Everything is excellent, from the appetizer to the dessert. The staff is very helpful and kind. The black crostini are fabulous. The small restaurant at the foot of the castle is cozy, well-kept, and with a really friendly staff. Each dish is well-prepared and very delicious. The only "flaw" was the dessert. We had a mascarpone cream with raspberries, but according to us, it resembled a cold cheesecake too much. It was still very good. Great value for money. Highly recommended, we will definitely come back!

This little place was a beautiful discovery! The service is really excellent with young, kind, and prepared staff. The dishes are delicious at super affordable prices, difficult to find elsewhere. Among the proposed dishes, you must try the braised cheek, the tagliatelle, and the peposo, without giving up the house tripe. The wines are also excellent. Absolutely a must-try!

Before I read everything, posts, reviews, etc.... I must say that I worked as a waiter in a different place, but it gave me the opportunity to get to know and visit many places. The place and the atmosphere are very nice, something I paid attention to a lot.... I would like to praise the staff, prepared and diligent. Also, they are friendly in the end, which is nice. If you want to eat well and drink too, ask.... they will know how to answer. I'm here for this too.
