Restored in the early 20th century, Porta Soprana (also known as Porta Sant'Andrea) was one of the entrances to the old city of Genoa. Built in 1115 on top of a pre-existing gate during the construction of the new walls to protect Genoa from Barbarossa, it is one of the most important historical landmarks in Genoa.
Located near Christopher Columbus' house and the remains of the Sant'Andrea monastery, Porta Soprana is a must-visit attraction. As you enter, you'll notice two plaques on the sides that refer to the history of Genoa.
Step through the gate and immerse yourself in the medieval charm of Genoa!
