Discover the Fontana del Porcellino, a bronze sculpture located under the loggia of the Mercato Nuovo in Florence. According to popular tradition, touching the Porcellino's nose brings good luck. To ensure a positive outcome, place a coin in the pig's mouth after rubbing its nose. If the coin falls through the grate, luck will be on your side. The proceeds from the coin collection are entirely donated to the Opera della Divina Provvidenza Madonnina del Grappa.
While visiting, be aware of the two vultures on either side of the fountain, ready to snatch any coins that don't make it into the grate. If luck hasn't been on your side, give it another try or retrieve your coin!
Don't miss out on this iconic attraction, located near the Ponte Vecchio and surrounded by charming local eateries serving traditional Florentine dishes. Make sure to let a coin descend from the animal's mouth and see if fortune favors you!
Experience the luck of the Porcellino!
